Parish NewsTaxi Voucher SchemeThe scheme is working well with a number of parishioners without transport making use of the vouchers. Anyone without access to transport can apply whether young or old or somewhere in between!!!.If you would like further information please contact Pat Tweddle on Tel:565770 Notes from February Minutes. The following items of interest to the village were discussed at the meeting held on Monday 5th February 2007: Community Safety Cameras: As of this date we now have seven volunteers for training from the police to monitor the speed of traffic through the village and take registration numbers. PC Andy Cooper will now be asked for details of the next step to move this initiative forward. Directory of Parish Plan: A computer disc has now been provided by Omniprint so that the directory can be downloaded onto the Parish Council website. The Hollow: The bird feeding station has once again been vandalised, the fencing having been damaged and some bird feeders thrown into the lake. Many volunteers give freely of their time to look after this conservation area which gives pleasure to a lot of village people and visitors alike. It is therefore sad to think that there are people who have such little regard for the efforts of others and the community itself. Taxi Voucher Scheme: The committee formed to pursue funding through the ‘Awards for All’ Scheme ran by the National Lottery has submitted an application and is looking at a number of requirements stipulated by the assessment panel. Books of vouchers are still being issued to present users of the scheme but this will need to kept under review as the present funding becomes exhausted. In the meantime Cllr Beaty continues to seek funding through Harborough District Council for people living in rural areas without transport to access health related appointments. Blocked drains: The issue of blocked drains in a number of locations in the village has been taken up with the Highways Dept. Hedge cuttings – Drayton Road: An assurance has been given that the cuttings on the road side following a recent hedge cutting competition will be cleared as soon as ground conditions improve sufficiently for farm machinery to carry out the work. DATE & TIME OF NEXT MEETING: Monday 5th March 2007 at 7.45pm in the Village Hall. Everyone welcome to attend especially those new to the village. |
